Abuse/Trauma Survival

I collapsed and screamed. Thirty years’ worth of tears and pain came out in a flood. For over five minutes, I lay there in a fetal position, sobbing uncontrollably.

KEYNOTE

FINDING FORGIVENESS: Learning to Let Go and Love Yourself Again

Dr. Woods captures his audience with a detailed account of the trauma he suffered after abuse. Many victims are driven by misplaced shame to face the challenges of trauma alone. Like so many victims, Robert chose to bury the abuse, and tried to pretend it never happened. With extensive therapy, he finally forgave the monster that almost destroyed him.

WORKSHOP

YOU CAN'T LOVE ANYONE UNTIL YOU LOVE YOURSELF

Shame belonging to abusers is often cast upon their victims. He will explain how speaking (up and out) about his abuse and trauma enabled him to cry again. He allowed himself to feel the pain and work through it. Forgiveness unlocked the cage that kept him from loving himself.
